Our EGO WMS has connections with market-leading IT solutions, as well as with external services and equipment. These connections ensure highly reliable information exchange, enabling you to significantly improve your logistics performance .

Connecting the EGO WMS suite to software solutions

In recent years, the offerings of business and management IT solutions (Web platform, marketplace, ERP, transport software, expert solutions, etc.) have undergone a clear evolution.

To have a reliable and robust information system within the company, these solutions need to be "connected" to the warehouse's IT infrastructure. For example, they can be used to:

  • Retrieve information about stock status or shipping confirmation,
  • "Bringing back down" to the warehouse the information on announced deliveries or the order backlog,
  • Etc.

In recent years, SITACI has selected and implemented connectors with partner solutions that address these interfacing challenges , namely the reliability and field information

Connecting the EGO WMS suite to hardware solutions

The range of hardware and equipment (barcode or RFID readers, rugged tablets, PDAs, labelers, and printers) has improved considerably in recent years. It has also become more accessible with:

  • Video cameras,
  • 3D scans (for optimizing trailer loading),
  • Smart mobile workstations and cobots,
  • RFID antennas (for Pick To Light or perpetual inventories),
  • BLE beacons (Bluetooth beacons for indoor location),
  • Virtual reality glasses (heads-up display),
  • Augmented reality glasses (assisted maintenance),
  • UWB (Ultra Wide Band) systems for indoor location (via tag).

This technological offering is obviously applicable to intralogistics . However, even though this new equipment allows for gains in productivity and reliability , it is only relevant under certain specific conditions and for certain use cases.

Moreover, some hardware integrators, such as the French TIMCOD

Obstacles in the interconnection of a WMS with materials and equipment in the warehouse

Even though the technological offering has become abundant, hyper-competitive and with a significant drop in prices, it still encounters obstacles to materializing in the warehouse.

We have identified 4 main obstacles.

  1.  The human factor : resistance may stem from a few individuals who dislike change. Changing their habits may prove difficult, especially compared to others who are more inclined to switch between technologies and are more receptive to new ones. Furthermore, this will necessitate a very user-friendly interface for the devices connected to the WMS. This could be achieved, for example, through user-friendly interfaces similar to those of a personal smartphone.
  2. existing  information systems
  3. Market access for startups: Product and service innovations in these markets are primarily driven by startups. They are unable to quickly integrate these innovations with existing clients, especially within outdated information systems. Unfortunately, the costs and time required to reach the market are very (too) long for these fledgling companies and are often incompatible with their available resources (financial, skills, networks).
  4. perceived additional costs and the difficulty in estimating ROI (Return on Investment): logistics is often seen as a cost center. Therefore, to acquire a fleet of new, state-of-the-art equipment, the logistics manager will need to also consider the return on investment.
